What is an ETF?
An ETF is an exchange traded fund, it is also called a tracker or an index tracker. An ETF tracks the position of an index, such as the AEX, S&P 500 or another global stock index.
There are also index trackers in specific themes such as sustainability or for specific business sectors. With the purchase of an ETF you are assured of a diversified investment in tens to hundreds of securities such as stocks, indices or bonds without having to purchase all the securities separately. You therefore do not invest in a single share of a company, but in a wide selection of shares. ETFs have gained a lot of popularity in recent years because of their low costs and good returns.
